    On exposed rhyolite rock cliff face just above spray zone. Growing on saprolite comprsied of weather rhyolite, fine leaf material and guano. Associated with abundant Tortella flavovirens (plants often admixed with it), Bryum billardierei var. platyloma (AK 309345), Ramalina meriodinalis (AK 308818), Cheilolejeunea sp. (AK 308897), Didymodon torquatus (AK 309328) and Chiloscyphus semiteres (AK 308896). Locally common. Site used by little blue penguins to access their burrows. Identification confirmed by J. E. Beever 15 January 2010.
