      Common understorey (and rare emergent) tree in. a cyclone battered Kermadec pohutukawa / Kermadec ngaio (Myoporum rapense subsp. kermadecense) / mahoe (Melicytus aff. ramiflorus) with karaka forest. All specimens seen moderately to severely cyclone-damaged, mostly sporting new epicormic growth and broken or defoliated branches. DNA voucher for karaka study. (Map Reference NZMS Topo25 118634).
