    Open bog and damp tussock opening below the shrubline and just above Piripiri stream in the upper catchment c 600m up from Piripiri bivvy, below a seepage. Common at site. Growing on a damp, crumbly rock surface with and amongst N.ciliata. Fertile with orange fruit. With Chionochloa conspicua, Carex spp, Coriaria richardii and bryophytes. Foetid when crushed
