  • Description

    Penu. Pounder. This implement used for pounding and preparing uru (breadfruit). Carved from a single piece of stone. Cylindrical in shape and oval in cross-section, with the front and back sides of the impelemnt sloping inwards, forming a ridge along the top of the implement. Butt left pecked. There are beige/off-white coloured markings or residue visible across the surface. Grey in colour.
