    cylindrical section of bamboo split in half lengthwise to form a container for yokan.

    here a section of bamboo has been split in half to form a plendidly funtional container for persimmon-flavoured yokan. A bamboo knife is supplied for cutting and serving the confection. this packaging idea comes from the town of Ogaki, Gifu Prefecture, where it is said to have originated almost a century ago.
