    Japanese naginata (halberd or polearm); broken in 2 pieces - [yari or naginata];

    scabbard/saya: lacquer on wood with ridge along sides

    shaft: oval;wood; five copper fittings; traces of silvering; being 3 rings and 1 sleeve at blade end and 1 sleeve at short iron butt piece; short gold coloured buldging binding near blade end

    blade: rust has caused light pitting on blade ; forging detail partly visible ; small chip in cutting edge; two red painted grooves on each side; silvered copper collar at tang; tang unsigned
