Tao hoka ika. Fishing spear. This tao hoka ika is made of composite materials. Two ulu tao (spear heads) of dark brown kieto (ebony) are lashed securely to one end of a long cylindrical rod of akau (wood), which is light brown in colour, with pulu (coconut sennit) of a medium brown colour. The two ulu tao create a double-pronged effect at the head of the tao. Each ulu tao is curved in profile, and grooved in a fakanifonifo (serrated) technique along the outward facing side.
