    Pala hega. Feather head dress. Pala hega were worn by chiefly men of high rank, or warriors. The pala hega was placed at the back of the head with strips of hiapo wrapped around to secure it. This pala hega consists of pale yellow fulu hega (feathers of the hega bird) and long white tailfeathers (fulu tuaki). The fulu plumes are tied together and lashed with lauulu (human hair) and lau fā (pandanus) on a long, pointed wooden shaft.
