    child's petticoat worn in NZ by member of Fleming family

  • Description

    child's petticoat, c.1916. Made from very fine cotton with needle and bobbin lace. It is a short petticoat to fit a child about two years of age. Centre back opening has drawstring fastenings at neck and waist. There is a bobbin lace edging 5mm wide around neck and armholes. The skirt is roughly pleated and gathered onto the bodice and is finished at hemline. The back opening has three button fastenings but the buttons are missing. It has previously been mended.
