  • Description

    netsuke; manju netsuke; made from ivory; circular disc shape with rounded edges; obverse and sides have carved relief depicting a man holding a katana in his right hand and a flowing fabric in his left hand; the details of the relief are inked in black dot and line work; the downturned mouth of the man is in red ink; the sides of the manju netsuke have waves of smoke incised in dot work and black ink; the centre of the obverse has a small raised circle; the reverse has a small loop for attaching a silk cord; the reverse is signed in japanese script;
