    Screwplate/gauge, Bourgeaux 8-12

    steel trapezium-shaped plate. 10 holes with numbers on left-hand side, and hole at top. Marked above top hole "10" and below "BOURGEAUX".

    Many different gauges were used and invented by different manufacturers for many purposes before the metric system became more or less universal during the latter part of the 20th century. Some were common or logical, and others were not so, being peculiar to one manufacturer or area.
