    fifteen sections of cylindrical bamboo for containing yokan, tied in a continuous row with green string. bamboo sheath covers at either end of each cylinder. circular bamboo section in the centre of the row acts as a handle from which to hang the cylinders.

    the brand name of the yokan in this captivating package is "Hoshi Matsuri", or Star Festival. the yokan is stuffed into sections of bamboo stem, and these, in turn, are individually wrapped in bamboo-sheath cord. the handle is also made of bamboo. this is indeed a remarkable work of art in which every elementof the package is made of one natural material.
