two Kytoto confections are packaged with almost classic simplicity in sections of bamboo. the container in plate 69 copies the water buckets used at kyoto's hundreds of temples. the one in plate 70 is distinguished by the interesting manner in which it has been cut at the top. both are designed for later use as vases. the dyed paper labels add a touch of gaiety to the otherwise severe forms.
