box of wrapped confectionary, bar of bean jam confectionary wrapped in gold foil-backed paper and enclosed in box.

the stunning simplicity of this package reflects the design policy of the Torindo, the shop in Yao, Osaka, where it is sold. a long bar of the bean-jam confection called "yokan" (which will be cut into small pieces when it is served) is wrapped in a sheet of foil-backed paper, elegantly labeled with the name of the product and that of the shop. Although its purpose is severely functional, the wrapper effectively suggests the highest quality of the contents. other products of this noted shop are seen in plates 25, 62,160 and 161
