Italian porcelain production had resumed in the 18th century due to the artistic and technical developments happening in Germany and Austria. Este factory was run by Criarina Farbris, a widow. The modeling of the figures was by her husband, Jean-Pierre Varion, a Frenchman who had also worked at factories in Vincennes and Le Nove.The Este factory would have been small and the output is not well documented. However they produced a range of excellent figures.
