The enormous export trade of bellarmines from Germany soon resulted in copies being made in England where they were known as ‘Greybeards’.
One of the greatest English potters, John Dwight established a pottery making stoneware jugs and mugs. Some of these salt-glazed wares are probably the earliest in England.
