  • Description

    Tairiiri. Fan. Composite tairiiri woven from kikau ou (young coconut leaf) with dyed-orange overlaid apuraka (giant swamp taro) akamanea (decoration) attached to a mauranga (handle) rakau (wooden). The blade is in shape of an inverted triangle. Plaited commencement at the centre base of the blade. Woven out in check. Mostly natural colour with top area of the blade decorated with dyed-orange overlaid strips of apuraka. Top edge of the blade is flat.

    Hole in the top side edge of the blade. Blade is attached to a shaped maurang rakau and lashed at the centre base of the blade with puru akari (coconut sennit).
