  • Description

    Tairiiri. Fan. Composite tairiiri consisting of a blade woven from rauara (pandanus leaf), wrapped around mauranga (handle) carved of rakau (wood). The blade is in the shape of a diamond. Plaited commencement at centre of blade. Woven out in check from the centre to form lower edge and sides of blade. Two tones of natural coloured rauara strips are interwoven creating geometric patterns across the blade.

    Faces of the blade are not identical due to slight variations of patterns. Blade is attached to mauranga, and is wrapped with strips of rauara.
