  • Description

    Tofua. Waist garment made from strips of voivoi (pandanus). The waistband consists of mat area woven out in a fine check weave with detailing in a larger check weave in two sections bordered top and below by an open weave line, with red and yellow coloured woollen thread interwoven near the top and bottom edges, forming a border around the waistband.

    The body of the Tofua consists of ruffled strips of voivoi, consisting of both finely stripped and short wide strips of voivoi. There is a tie at each end of the waistband consisting of braided strips of voivoi, tali tolu (3-ply). Light brown/beige in overall colour.
