    Kato. Bag. This kato is double walled, it is woven with lau fala (pandanus) strips, with an outer layer of gatu (tapa cloth) and a protective clear plastic layer on the top. This was all sewn together with white plastic string. The kato has two long handles of plaited fau (hibiscus) fibres. Kato like this one can be used as a woman's purse or an every day or even a church bag. This kato most likely would have been made for the tourist trade.
