    Sitar

    Made from a gourd, wood, plastic, and cotton thread. The sitar has a large ovoid gourd for a resonator. The neck is long and rectangular with plastic applied edges, wrapped around the reverse of the neck is red cotton string connecting the frets to the neck. Knobs at the top of the neck are wooden and carved to be fluted. Where the neck meets the resonator is an applied thin piece of wood that has been painted white and has the design of a red flower with a leave below and the word: JAI above the flower. The sitar is un-stringed
