  • Description

Pate rikiriki with a rakau pate. Small log drum with drumstick (52008.1). A log of wood carved into a slit drum with the middle hollowed out. A small notch carved out at either end of the drum to shape an 'ear' increasing the timbre of the pate when beaten with the rakau pate. The wood is natural in colour with visible grain. 52008.2 is a rakau pate, meaning a drumstick.

The rakau pate is carved from solid wood into a long cylindrical shape and rounded at one end, while the other end is shaped to a blunt point. It is lightweight and of a natural colour.
