    outfit, dress, cloak, belt and hat made for ''Dress Art', a 1990 exhibition at the Govett-Brewster Gallery, New Plymouth, New Zealand.

    dress: full-length dress with crinkled silk, hand-dyed in blues, reds, and purple; single shoulder strap; rosette at base of strap; gathered below waist; zip closure at side seam; hem is longer at back; maker's label at inside back: Susan Holmes PURE SILK

    cloak: multilayered silk cloak; velvet and silk collar; tulle shoulder padding; silk is handpainted; split down back like moth wings; reds, purples, blues, greens, and black with gold detailing; label at back of neck: Susan Holmes PURE SILK

    belt: silk and velvet padded waist belt; coloured patchwork and appliqued gold cord; made up of 5 crescent shapes sewn together; gold-coloured metal button with loop closure; handwritten on back of one crescent: Susan Holmes

    headpiece: silk and velvet headpiece with black strap; flounce of gathered silk near back of headpiece; purple and blue dyed ostrich feathers with iridescent black feathers at back; one ostrich feather sticks up straight from headpiece and most feathers have been stripped except for small portion at top
