‘Umeke lā‘au

human history
  • Other Name

    Wooden bowl (English)

  • Description

Umeke lā‘au. Wooden bowl. This ‘umeke lā‘au has been carved from lā‘au (hardwood) into a round, flat- bottomed bowl. Its surface is smooth in treatment and it is brown in colour. Some scratching is visible on the base. The even, circular markings on the base suggest it was wood-turned. Light tones of the wood also suggest it could be monkey pod or mango wood.
