  • Description

    Kete. Bag. For carrying personal items. Woven from rauara (pandanus leaf) strips with overlaid dyed-brown/red apuraka (giant swamp taro) akamanea (decoration). Commencement at base. Bottom closed up with an iri taki toru (3-ply braid) inside the bag. Rim of kete is woven into patara (serrated) decorative edge. Single braided tatai (handle) attached transverse made of rauara with one strip of dyed-brown/red apuraka worked in to create decorative effect.

    Pattern of two chevrons on the body of the kete, each facing away from each other. Dyed-brown/red overlaid apuraka (eight strips side by side) to make the chevrons.
