    Bag (English)

  • Description

    Kete. Bag. Woven from rauara (pandanus leaf) with dyed apuraka (giant swamp taro) akamanea (decorative) overlay. For carrying personal items. Flat, square shape. Woven in check as and twill where patterns are overlaid with dyed-black strips of apuraka. Upper rim is finished in patara (serrated edge). Patterns alternate between vertical twill lines and checkerboard motif. Four lines of these alternating motifs.

    There used to be two tatai (handles) but loss of one and the other is broken and detached at one end.
