    Ipu. Cup. This ipu is made from hollowed out popo (coconut shell) and are typically used to serve food, drink, and 'ava (kava). Ipu are made from the muliipu (lower half of the coconut) and is cleaned, scraped thin and then polished. The inside and outside of the shell are smooth and dark brown in colour. The outer central node of the ipu has been smoothed down to a small blunt point which has been drilled through.
