  • Description

Water bottle. This water bottle is made from a whole hollowed out popo (coconut shell) which has a hole at the top. It is encased in a netted carrier which has been formed with plaited 'afa (sennit). A niu vai (larger variety of coconut) is husked and it's central 'eye' gauged to form a hole, it is then drained of all its liquids and filled with seawater. After the meat inside has rotted away, it is drained and rinsed out with freshwater and then used as a water bottle.

This would have been used to fill with water to carry or store for use within the house or for personal use.
