The “art Union of London”, a National Art Lottery, did much to popularize and publicize the new productions in “Statuary Porcelain”, a name soon superseded by “Parian”. The result Parian figures and groups in vast number were being produced by all the leading manufacturers. The names of the sculptors can often be found on the moulded replicas. Parian figures, groups and bust, were made in quantity from the 1840’s to the 1890’s. The versatile body was also used fro utilitarian objects (jugs, centre pieces, etc).
