    infant's petticoat worn in NZ by member of Fleming family

  • Description

    Baby's long petticoat with wide shallow neck, drawstring at waist and there seems to have been a button. Loop at centre back neck, skirt is roughly pleat gathered on to bodice and is decorated at lower edge with rows of 15mm wide machine embroidered muslin and three 2mm tucks. Finally, a 40mm plain, tucked (1.5mm tucks) frill has been added. The frill, neck edge and armholes have a 12mm edging of bobbin hand made torchon lace. Machine made broderie anglaise insertion.
