    Waqa Ukuuku. Model canoe. This waqa ukuuku is a double hull craft made of wood and lashed with fibre. An accessory of an i voce ukuuku (model canoe paddle) and laca ukuuku (model sail) accompany the waqa. The i voce ukuuku is also carved from kau (wood) into a cylindrical shaft and long, flat rectangular blade. The waqa and the i voce are both brown in colour with a glossy patina.

    The laca ukuuku is constructed from voivoi (pandanus) attached to a wooden stick with binding made of vau (hibiscus fibre), all natural in colour.
