  • Description

    Tairiiri. Fan. Composite tairiiri woven from rauara (pandanus leaf) with dyed-red and dyed-black apuraka (giant swamp taro) akamanea (decoration) and mauranga (handle) rakau (wooden). The blade is in shape of a diamond. Plaited commencement at centre, and woven outwards in check to form lower edge and sides of blade. Blade decorated with dyed-red and black overlaid strands of apuraka.

    Blade is attached to a shaped mauranga rakau with rauara wrapped around the centre and top of mauranga.
