  • Description

    Kete. Bag. For carrying personal items. Woven from rauara (pandanus leaf) with overlaid dyed-red apuraka (giant swamp taro) akamanea (decoration). The kete has a patara (serrated) decorative edge. Overlaid dyed-red diagonal cross-like patterns along upper area of kete. Overlaid patterns on the middle of kete consisting of dyed-red apuraka strips form chequered vertical zig-zagged rows that alternate with natural-coloured strips of rauara.

    Single wide interwoven tatai (handle) woven from dyed-red apuraka and natural-coloured rauara strips. Originally gfted in 1932.
