This kato (bag) has a base of coconut shell and is decorated with pueki shells and has a handle also decorated with pueki shell. The entire outside of the coconut shell is covered with fau (hibiscus fibre) and pueki. The fau strips are used to weave a casing of sorts outside the coconut shell and the pueki shells are added at the same time as the weaving is being completed. At the top of the shell a small circumference of the top is cut off and it is also woven and decorated with pueki and it is attached with fau.
