    Kato. Basket. Kato tu'aniu. Coiled tu'aniu basket. Small sized basket, round in shape and coiled with an inner of tu'aniu and wrapped and knotted with strips of pandanus. The coils are larger in size due to more strands of tu'aniu being wrapped in each coil. The kau (handle) is flat and is attached at either end of the kato. It is woven with natural, black and purple dyed strips of pandanus.

    The basket face is decorated with dyed strips of pandanus in the colours black, red, and purple.
