cravat

human history
  • Description

cravat, lace, black, edging of bell-shaped flower heads, centre of spotted net with flower sprays; "Probably made at Caen or Bayeux rather than Chantilly itself" (note on object)

This exquisitely worked Chantilly lace cravat is likely to have been worn by someone in mourning. It shows greater wear at the back of the neck than anywhere else.
