This wooden bowl has a bird head projecting from one end. One side has a crescent pattern carved into the rim. Areas of the bowl including one of the legs, have broken away, and the surface is very worn.

The head fragment was found in 1962. The remaining bowl fragment was found in early 1970s and reunited with the head. When found, the head had a lower jaw or beak but broke off prior to coming to Auckland Museum. One side of the bowl is missing.
