  • Description

Fagaika. Fish trap. The fagaika is made of long wooden sticks tied together with fauato (2-ply coconut sennit) of a golden brown colour. The fagaika is a large sized trap, somewhat half-cylindrical in general shape. It consists of an internal chute for the fish to enter through, and two small trap doors at the top and far end of the fagaika to access the internal cavity.

Across the front opening is a cantilevered roof made of the same material as the entire structure of the fish trap.
