  • Description

    Kuku hāu. Pandanus scraper. Made from metal, this kuku hāu is used to scrape the pandanus leaf in order to soften it. The sharp edge is used to pierce and split the leaves after it has been scraped. After being scraped and split, the pandanus strips are used to weave mats and other things. Before metal, kuku hāu were made from shell.
