  • Description

    i Vakawiri. Drill components. Consisting of a drill point and a cross bar. The drill point is a long, cylindrical rod of kau (wood) carved with chevrons and a small drill bit of bitu (bamboo) at one end. A metal hoop fastened to the other end with dark brown plant fibre cordage tied to it. The crossbar long rod of kau carved with chevrons, with a large hole carved at the centre of the object, and is ovoid in section. Both components are dark reddish brown in colour.
