    Whale's teeth neck ornament (English)

  • Description

    Vuasagale. Whale teeth adornment. Eleven small sized, banana-shaped teeth, lashed and arranged to a thick cord of fibres. Each tooth are a yellow brown colour, with drilled suspension holes at their base and most with a converging drilled hole at their tip. Each tooth is ground and polished, with a shiny patina.

    The cord fibres are built up thickly in volume, made up of finer strands of tali tolu (3-ply) braided dark brown magimagi (coconut sennit), and a dark reddish coloured wool.
