  • Other Name

    Fan (English)

  • Description

Fan. This is a hand held fan woven into the form of a circular shape. The handle is a carved light coloured wood that has been split half way to hold the circular coiled body of the fan. A woven cord of coconut sennit has been used to lash the body to the handle. Dried pandanus leaf has been used to weave and create a knotted surface from the centre of the circular body. A red dyed strand of hibiscus fibre has been woven into the coils creating a circle at the centre.

The rim features strands of reddish brown and green hibiscus fibre that have been woven to create a larger circle in the fan.
