  • Description

    i Wau. Club. This i Wau is carved from kau (wood). The head is a large, wide and diamond in section. Inlay of whale tooth in moon crescent shape, 5 pointed star shape, two drawn lines around circumference around lower head. Empty inlay crescent and small circular hole also, on this side of the flat paddle. Underside one small crescent inlay space. The shaft is cylindrical and long, carved in tavatava (zigzag design) at the grip. Chipped at the butt of the handle.

    Butt is concave. Two small holes drilled into the surface of the butt. Dark reddish brown in colour with some patina.
