human history
  • Other Name

    Barbed spear (English)

  • Description

Tao. Barbed spear. This is one entire component that portrays both the shaft and ulu tao (spear head). The surface of the wood is dark brown in colour, smooth in surface texture with few hafted marks. The shaft part is long and cylindrical. Its base end tapers into a point. The ulu tao section portrays a range of complex fakanifonifo beginning with two large star-like segments at the base and then several points following on towards the tip.

There are some fractures among the points revealing a lighter brown tone of wooden texture.
