    Adze (English)

  • Description

    Toki. Adze. Tool used for multiple purposes including carving wooden objects. Carved from basalt toka (stone). Stone is dark in colour. Quadrangular cross-section. Sharp cutting edge. Bevel is highly polished, concaved. Blade secton is longer than the butt and is highly polished. Shoulder is present above the blade. Reduced to butt. Butt is somewhat polished. Poll is left dull and unpolished, with evidence of pecking.

    Overall surface treatment is polished with pecking apparent in some areas.
