  • Description

    Carpenter's brace and bit. Made from wood, metal, and brass. It is a large size and shaped like a 'U' with a grip at the centre. The sides of the wooden body have brass inlay with incised text, one side reads: HENRY BROWN PATENT. The other side reads: M.BROWN & SONS/ COLE MANUFACTURERS OF THE/ PATENT ANTIFRICATION BRACE/ JOHN BOTTOM INVENTOR. At one end of the brace is a drill bit that is pointed, the other end has a knob that twists.
