    Epergne

    This was presented to George Vesey Stewart on his retirement from the agency of the Aughnacloy Estate, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, in 1872. The main body of the epergne is made of silver. The central stem is in the form of a tree trunk, encircled with vine leaves and grapes. The female figures of Faith, Hope, and Charity around the base. There is one large glass bowl at the top in the centre, six smaller glass bowls that fit in candle sockets and three glass bowls in hanging silver baskets. There is presentation text engraved on the base of the epergne: PRESENTED TO GEPRGE / VESEY / STEWART ESQ J.P. / ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM / THE AGENCY OF / THE AUGHANCLOY ESTATE/ AUGHNACLOY ESTATE / BY THE TENANTS / AND A FEW OF HIS FRIENDS / AS A MARK OF/ THEIR ESTEEM AND REGARD / AUGHNACLOY, OCTOBER 1872
