    Whale's split teeth neck ornament (English)

  • Description

    Wasekaseka. Whale tooth necklace. Consisting of twenty-six whale teeth, milky white/ivory in colour. The teeth are long, narrow, curved in shape, with pointed ends, bored at their bases and threaded onto a cord woven from plant fibre. The ends of the cord are knotted together. There are additional cords, possibly woven from vau (hibiscus fibre), wrapped around the base cord and in-between each tooth.
