    Shield

    Made from cane, leather and wood. A long rectangular shaped shield with a wooden frame and thin strips of cane in a wicker weave technique. The shield is coloured a dark brown/black colour .The top of the shield has a thin oval shaped opening. The reverse of the shield has leather patches up the centre that have been stitched in to place with cane strips. A leather handle is tied to the upper reverse, it is a long strap with animal fur in patches.
