H.M.S. Virago was built at Woolwich and was launched on 25 July 1842. Came to New Zealand during the visit of the Duke of Edinburgh, in 1869, and carried the last detachment of the 18th Regiment to leave NZ when she sailed in 1870.
HMS Virago was scrapped in 1876.
